ABOUT TRIP
Our experienced English-speaking guide will pick you up from your hotel in Tirana or Durrës and accompany you throughout the trip. We’ll start our journey to Berat, located about two hours from Tirana.
Once we arrive in Berat, we’ll start our tour by exploring the famous Berat Castle, a medieval fortress that offers breathtaking views of the town and the surrounding mountains. Inside the castle, we’ll visit the Onufri Museum, home to a stunning collection of 16th-century icons painted by the renowned artist Onufri and his students. We’ll also explore the castle’s churches, which date back to the 13th and 14th centuries and offer a glimpse into the religious life of medieval Berat.
Next, we’ll visit the King Mosque and Helveti Teke, two important religious sites that showcase Berat’s tolerance and diversity. Learn about the history of these sites and how they’ve played a role in Berat’s cultural heritage.
As we walk through the town’s winding streets, you’ll see Berat’s unique Ottoman architecture and appreciate the beauty of the ‘town of a thousand windows’. We’ll also stop at the Old Bridge, where you can take the best pictures of the Mangalem neighborhood, known for its beautiful Ottoman houses and winding streets.
Finally, we’ll return to Tirana or Durrës in the late afternoon, filled with memories of the unique beauty and cultural richness of Berat.
